Another holiday season has come and gone and Maverick is ready for a fantastic year on 17th Street. The winter months have brought a chill to the fiery Mission, but our cozy space is warm and inviting and our food and wine pairings reflect that. From braised meats to winter squash to bitter greens, the dinner and brunch menu will keep you warm and fuzzy inside all season.

May your 2010 be full of novel, adventurous, and off the beaten track wines and wine pairings. Speaking of audacious pairings, January 20th's ‘One of a Kind Wine Wednesday,’ Mexican Food and Wine?, should shake up some preconceived notions of the optimal beverage of choice for a carnitas taco. We will taste a wacky rosé from Carl Sutton, a fine German Riesling, and a spicy Italian Barbera that fully complement three different classic taquería dishes. Details: 5:30pm / $35 / reservations required. The standout pairing from the new January menu is the amazingly complex Grilled Sunchoke Salad with arugula, olives, parsley, sunchoke chips, and sherry vinaigrette, balanced and complemented by the mineral, dark fruit, and herbaceous laden 2007 Domain de Pallus Chinon (Cab. Franc.)…..of course we would pair a salad with red wine. What else would you expect at Maverick? From Farm to Mission
Becker Lane Organic Farm pork is back! This special farm in Iowa was founded on the principal of practicing good animal welfare. Jude Becker pasture raises his Chester White and Berkshire pigs on organic feed grown on site. We are slow roasting his Country Rib and serving it with Mexican sides like smashed heirloom beans and an ancho and pasilla chile mole.

Maverick will be participating in this very popular event again this year. From January 15th -31st, our kitchen will be offering a three-course menu for the special price of $34.95.
